NEVER cut back the greenery. Once the flower dies, cut off the stem but don't touch the leaves. They create food for the bulb so that it will bloom again next year. Eventually, the leaves will turn brown and wither; that's when you can remove them. It's a good idea to plant tulips and other bulbs near shrubbery so that the shrubs hide the leaves. Some people are bothered by the appearance of the leaves, but I don't mind. They are working to provide me with beautiful flowers next Spring.
After a tulip blooms, how long do you wait to cut back the greenery?
WAIT TILL ALL THE FLOWERS ARE OFF AND THEN CUT BACK BUT GIVE IT ATLEAST 2 WEEKS AFTER FLOWERING
Reply:until the leaves and stem have died off as they retrun the goodness back into the bulb ready for next years crop ---try folding them over and loosly tying them as this just makes them look tidier
