I did not get around to planting my bulbs last year and have kept them in our barn. WIll they grow next year if I plant them this month?
Can I plant tulip bulbs I did not plant last year?
It's worth a shot. I have done it before and had good results. You might have a few that won't sprout but a majority should. They may take a little longer than fresh bulbs so don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away.
Reply:I planted Tulip Bulbs in my garden in 2003,and they still come up every Spring. I live in NW Indiana,so I had to plant them in October, and they were in full bloom by May. I have Annuals,so I will expect to see them in the Spring of 2007,after that I will dig those up and replant different ones. Report It
Reply:yes but you will get 2 tulips because the bulb will have reproduced Report It
Reply:Actually you might have to buy new bulbs, but they will come back yearly. Report It
Reply:Yes you can just dig a hole and put the bulbs in and next spring they will grow nicely.
Reply:You bettcha! The bulbs would otherwise still be packaged at the nursery waiting for you to buy them in season.
Reply:If they are not dried out, they will do fine.
Reply:Yes,they will do fine
Reply:Depending on where you've had them stored (in a cool to moderately warm place), they will. According to an article I saw in our paper Oct. 20, 06, this month is perfect.

Reply:Go for it!
Don't bother planting any that have dried up (they look like prunes).
Blubs last forever if kept in the right environment! :)
Reply:Hi, i'm Dutch..... and you know we are the experts on tulips ..... lol....
They should be fine, if they still look good. If you doubt about that, you can still give it a try like this:
Plant them in a wide pot with fresh soil, keep them over the winter in your basement or the shed, dry and completely dark. When they shoot in spring, you can move the pot to your garden and they will flower.
Good luck!
