I live in the northeast of SD.and my other tulips are just starting to peak out of the ground. Can these potted ones be planted outdoors or are they just for inside enjoyment?
I recieved a potted tulip plant for Easter. Can it be repotted outside?
Put the plant in an area and let the plant try out until the tulip stems start turning brown and then take them outside plant them in the garden these bulbs will not bloom again this year but next year the tulips shoud come up fine-you can only force a flower bulb once but out side it will bloom for many years.
Reply:Tulips are notorious for putting on a good show the first season and then either not returning the next season or only producing foliage the second season. My advice is to compost them and plant some fresh Tulips in the fall. If you want to experiment with it, though, certainly set them in your garden.
Reply:i am pretty sure you can plant it. =)
Reply:Yes, you can plant them in the ground and they should come up next year, but this isn't always reliable. I always plant mine and usually get them to come back.
You can also plant crocus, daffodils, Easter lilies, and hyacinths and they normally will grow the next year. They might not bloom, but may need a year to replenish their energy from being forced.
Reply:my daughter also received tulips for Easter you need to take them and let them die out naturally bring them indoors and place the bulbs in a cool area and plant the bulbs in a cool area and when fall begins you plant these bulbs 3 to 6 inches in the ground so when the next spring approaches you have a wonderful memory of these tulips
Reply:You can yes.But not yet let it flower and die wait until it,s brown take the bulb out of the soil and store it in a dark place and put in the garden in september and it will come up again you wont have to take it up again as it will multiply and keep coming each yr.
Reply:Yes but, after the Blooms die, take the Bulbs and let them dry out and Plant them in time for NEXT year....they won't bloom again, this year!
Reply:Welll, they can be repotted outside! But, I dont think that they will grow indoors.
