I received a tulip plant for easter how do I transplant it?

Wait till it's done flowering.

Dig a 6 inch hole in the garden and plop it in. Tamp the soil around it. Water.

Squirrels eat tulip bulbs. It may or may not come back next spring.

I received a tulip plant for easter how do I transplant it?
Tulips forced in a pot are planted very shallowly in the pot, and in the garden should be planted much deeper if they are to survive. When I have a pot of tulips, after I have enjoyed the blooms and they are done, I sink pot and all into a sunny spot in my garden, where the leaves can be allowed to grow to maturity. When the leaves have turned yellow, I cut them off, take up the pot and remove the bulbs. I then plant them in the ground where I want them to grow, covering them with at least 8 inches of soil. They usually come up the next year and bloom on schedule. Sometimes it may take another year for them to return to blooming size.
Reply:dig a hole in the ground enough to cover the plant and put the plant in cover with the soil and water.
Reply:For varying reasons there may come a time when a gardener wants their tulips transplanted right in the middle of their growing period. They may find they need the area for something else or some type of construction is about to happen which will jeopardise the bulbs. Can they be replanted once they've begun sprouting?

Sure. However, you may not get the best blooms you were hoping for, if any at all for that season but it will prepare them to flower the following year at the very least.

Replant the sprouting tulip bulbs in a new position at the same depth you would normally plant just the bulb. Fertilise immediately with a good organic fertiliser such as blood and bone and water in well. If the leaves end up falling over and start to wither cut them off half way to give the bulb some respite. This way the tulip bulb can focus its energy into producing flowers for next year rather then expending itself propping up some foliage
Reply:dig a hole about 1 inch deeper 1 inch wider then dirt level plant is in- turn pot upside down and push plant out from bottom as you gently pull on stem close to base to do less root damage-plant in hole cover up water real good-your done
Reply:I would plant them when there finished growing and plant 6 inches deep and add some bone meal to the soil and they should bloom next year i hope this helps.
