Your tree is probably covered in aphid. Have it sprayed professionally or go to your nearest nursery and see what type of control spray they sell.

Joanne is right, I vote Aphids and honestly the best treatment is a systemic pesticide. "AceCap" is quite effective and easy to use. Also, low toxicity to humans. Ask at your local garden centre or hardware store.

Spraying would not be effective at this time of the year.
Reply:I will guess that it is aphids and your tree is stressed to to lack of rain. Tuliptrees that are stressed by lack of rain will lose their leaves, they can handle the aphids usually.
Reply:Hi! I have 3 huge tulip trees! They are dropping a lot of yellow leaves this year. They usually drop some leaves in late July. I live in Illinois and i don't think it always rains enough here for these trees. i always end up raking once in July bit this year we have raked and got the leaf blower out 3 times! we just did it last night and as i look out the window it looks like i could clean the leaves up again! it's horrible.

Plus we have a lot of sap falling out of the tree too. I think the sap attracts the aphids. Which we have millons of right now.

it's really ugly at our house right now between the leaves, sap and aphids!!!

LOL!
