When is the"tulip" period in Holland? And what are the best places to go then?

Hi

The best time to visit Netherlands in order to visit the tulip fields is in late March - mid April. I went last year in early April though and 45% of the fields were in bloom - it depends each year, I guess. it is still great, as the daffodil fields are in bloom as well. The best place to see tulips is Keukenfoh (http://www.keukenhof.nl/nm/english.html) - take the train from Amsterdam and then the bus (approx 1,5 hours). Really beautiful tulip reservation and the way there is literally through tulip fields.

Hope this helps.

Early Spring. Go to the Flower market, an amazing place, and they will tell you all you need to know.
Reply:I went to the Keukinhoff (spelling) Tulip Garden this year. It is best to go the first week of May. You need to go when the tulips are open and before they close. The Garden is has a stream running through it and lots of statues on display. Check out the sea port, Ann Franks House (cost-lines), Corrie Ten Boom's House (free), cheese factories. Prepare to take pictures of the unique designs. Great Minds of Architecture live in Holland.
Reply:The Keukenhof this year will be open from 22 March to 20 May.

Hans B you don´t know what you are talking about. Nothing beats Holland in flowers and tulips and it seems you have never seen the Keukenhof.
Reply:Mid winter, its amazing, tulips love the ice and cold!

Just kidding, it depends on the weather that year but where I come from in the US we have an annual tulip festival that actually boasts more tulips than you'll see in Holland. Its really amazing to see. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is between March and April usually, like I said, depends on the weather that year.
