What is the proper way to store tulip bulbs until the autumn planting time?

I have some tulip bulbs I got from a pot of tulips i received for easter. I am not sure how to store my bulbs until the next planting time. I know they need to be in a cool dry place, I'm not sure if the fridge is the best place or what. I do not have a basement. and when i store them what kind of container should it be in?

I would appreciate any help!

Thank you!

Tulips need cold winters to bloom in the spring, so it depends upon where you live. If you live in Southern California, as I do, leave them in the pot until September. Then wipe off the dirt, store them in a ventilated bag (I use the ones onions come in), and put in cool place. I store mine in the refrigerator until planting time. I plant some in November, and a few others in Dec and February, so that I have some blooming for quite awhile. The main thing is to let them have some cold time to get the bulb ready to grow again.
Reply:You don't have to store them at all. Go plant them now. It will give the bulbs time to get bigger over the summer. I received some daffodils for Easter and just planted them in the ground. I will have new flowers next spring.
Reply:break the ground away from the bulbs and gently wipe off the dirt without damaging any of the bulb. Then put a couple into a brown paper bag. Store the brown paper bags in a cool place (unfinished basement, wine cellar, garage, etc.). You do need to ensure they are not damp. If the floor of wherever you are storing them is damp, put them into the brown paper bag, then into an onion mess bag and hammer a nail into the wall and hang from there - again in a cool, dark area.
Reply:put them in grage
Reply:You can put your tulip bulbs in an onion bag and hang them up that way they dry out on their own ,And come planting time just put them in the ground,I put all my seeds and such in an onion bag,Or i will let them dry out and put them in a glass gallon jug until planting time and I have beautiful flower beds,I do this year after year,
Reply:a fridge should be a good place for them. you can also leave them outside in a pot all summer long becuase that is what they do when they are planted in the ground. then in october plant them in the ground and april you will have a show of flowera again
Reply:Wash the bulbs and store them dry and cool. The crisper drawer of the fridge is the best place, but keep ripening fruit, and fresh cut flowers, out of the fridge for the period (or at least out of the drawer). Store them in a ventilated bag, such as an old onion sack or in pantyhose.
