How do I care for tulip bulbs after the flowers die?

I have some tulip bulbs in a glass vase. There is no soil in the vase, just some plastic spikes the bulbs sit on and there is water up to the roots. There were no care instructions included, so I'm wondering how to care for the bulbs so they grow again.

How do I care for tulip bulbs after the flowers die?
actually i have the same thing with the spikes lol ... actually u can grow them again .. just cut off all the roots make a nice clean bulb again and it will sprout .. all you need is some loop warm water and a place in the sun ... also what i did was put some dark paper around the bottom of the vase since roots dont like light at all.. also maybe use a very little bit of some organic plant food i bet they are hungry lol

(i bought mine at costco lol )

p.s make sure your water line does not go over the bulb, just let in touch the bottom of the bulb untill u see roots hanging then u can lower the water level
Reply:they probobly won't bloom again. the bolbs were forced to bloom and it sucks all the energy out of them. IF you want to try take them out of the pot cut off the stems close to the bulb dry for several days then store in a cool dry dark place till spring.Plant a see what happens.
Reply:if there rooting allready place then in some dirt inside till spring frost is over then plant out doors. if the have not started new roots yet just plant in the out doors about 6 inches deep
Reply:put them in soil and feed them with plant food wait 6 weeks till leaves die down naturally cos this feeds the bulbs or they wont flower next year then snip off the leaves and put out in garden they will come up again next year you will need the soil to get moist in between now and next spring when they flower
Reply:Turtle lover has the right idea. Don't expect them to bloom again this Spring. With luck they will produce new foliage this year. This year's new foliage will feed the bulb for a bloom next year.
